Typical feature space formed by the model-based algorithm when illuminating the same pair of Munsell samples (Munsell samples: 2.5R 9/2 and 5Y 7/1) as used in Figure 7 a by daylight spectra measured when the smaller elevation was (a) less than 20° in the morning, (b) solar elevation greater than or equal to 20° during midday and (c) solar elevation less than 20° in the evening. A Mahalanobis distance boundary is drawn for each Munsell sample (shown in thick solid black line). A cross and a small circle show the feature obtained using model-based algorithm by illuminating the Munsell samples 2.5R 9/2 and 5Y 7/1 illuminated by one of the CIE standard illuminant, respectively.
